L'acido ascorbico o vitamina C è un potente schiarente della pelle ed è uno degli ingredienti più studiati e sostenuti dalla scienza per la cura della pelle. Oltre a sbiancare la pelle, è un potente antiossidante. La pelle ha bisogno di produrre collagene, una proteina strutturale che sostiene la pelle, mantenendola liscia e compatta. La vitamina C aumenta la produzione di lipidi cutanei, essenziali per mantenere i livelli di idratazione e flessibilità e per rafforzare la barriera cutanea.

L'acido ialuronico è un legante superiore per l'idratazione, in grado di attirare e trattenere fino a 1000 volte il suo peso in acqua.
