Apple

Pyrus malus

Apples are part of the rose family, along with plums and pears, and one of the most widely consumed fruits in the world. In Sweden, we have around 13 varieties, some with traditional Swedish names such as 'Ingrid-Marie' and 'Frida', and all of them are rich in antioxidants and healthy fruit sugar, which makes this fruit a healthy and wonderfully nutritious snack, as well as being an excellent ingredient for cosmetics, as its sugar and acid content helps to protect, moisturise and promote skin exfoliation.

Key Benefits

  • Antioxidants help prevent oxidative damage, purify and reveal radiant skin.

  • Rich in vitamin C and fruit sugar to help moisturise and protect the skin.

  • Fruit acids are naturally astringent, so they promote skin rejuvenation and tone pores.

Nutritionally, apples consist of approximately 10 per cent carbohydrates, 4 per cent vitamins and minerals and more than 80 per cent water!
